Pop Mythology is all about using superhero stories and imagery to bring out your inner hero in a symbolic way. Sometimes, though, symbolic just doesn’t seem good enough. Sometimes, we want to literally put on some spandex and go clobber bad guys. Well, thanks to the upcoming game Marvel Heroes, to be released by Gazillion Entertainment on June 4, 2013, we’ll be able to do just that – still not literally but the next best thing, anyway.

Centered around a story written by comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis (Ultimate Spider-Man, New Avengers, Secret Invasion), Marvel Heroes is a highly-anticipated, massively multiplayer online RPG that will allow players to become flagship characters from the Marvel Comics world such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America and the X-Men.

The game will be completely free to play, though players who want more options and advantages will be able to purchase “Founders Packs” (Starter, Premium and Ultimate) which will unlock additional characters and items and grant earlier access to the game by as much as seven days.

Mac users, however, will have to wait a bit longer as only the PC version will be available on the June 4 launch date. Gazillion has merely stated that a Mac-version will be available post-launch with no specific date announced yet.

David Brevik, President and COO of Gazillion Entertainment and creator of the popular Diablo and Diablo II, says, “I’ve been a big Marvel fan for all of my life. Marvel Heroes represents the combination of Marvel IP with all of the knowledge and experience I gained creating Diablo.”

  1. So excited!

  2. Oh wow, this does look like a lot of fun. The graphics are quite nice, too, which is surprising because when XMEN Destiny came out I was very disappointed with that aspect of it. Hopefully I'll have my very own PC by then!

  3. Cool, looks like a fun game! I'm gonna try it when it comes out!
