'Heroes in the Night' is a deftly written, entertaining book that sheds light on the strange but timely, understandable and relevant subculture that is the RLSH movement.

We at Pop Mythology, in a desire to helpfully offer some of that ultra-rare commodity known as "perspective," decided to have a roundtable discussion looking back at casting choices that were unpopular or controversial at the time but that turned out quite well.

There is some good material here and Hit Girl remains great, but often 'Kick-Ass 2' sets up for something outrageous and then cowers from it. “Have fun. That’s what it’s all about,” says Jim Carrey's character. Sadly, 'Kick-Ass 2' doesn't listen.

The net effect of 'Insane Jane' is a rather sharp poke in the eye to the more formulaic superhero exploits and origin stories. Overall, there was quite a lot of ingenuity and talent here, but it fell a bit flat for me.

'Injustice: Gods Among Men' is a beautiful and brilliantly executed game that puts control of a clash of the titans in your hands, and is as close to feeling like a superhero that you can get this side of extreme steroid abuse and a gallon of Red Bull. You WILL kneel before Zod.

Freed from the onerous task of having to tell Logan’s convoluted origin story, 'The Wolverine' plumbs the popular anti-hero’s tortured psyche and emerges with introspective gold while also delivering the kind of ballistic, berserker action that fans expect of the character.

When I discovered the work of Alexandra Wolfe, aka the Catwoman Cosplayer, the first thing that struck me was how remarkably she resembled my own internal vision of what Selina Kyle, the Catwoman, would actually look like were she to suddenly step out of the pages of a comic book.

'Turbulence' is entertaining and full of funny, knowing witticisms that could only come from a genuine, longtime fan of comics and superheroes. Besides, it’s refreshing to see the fate of the world, for once, hang in the balance of non-Western characters.

'DC Universe Online' is a solid MMO and it has enough unique features to make it new for anyone, even veteran MMO players. It features exciting combat, many great stories, allows players to fight alongside famous DC universe characters and it provides a wealth of content.

Playing 'Deadpool' is like listening to a shock jock DJ: it’s pure grindhouse gaming, designed to hit you with a sensory overload of gore and pitch-black, vulgar humor that's so low-brow that it’s virtually no-brow with visual gags attempting to hide the fact that, much like the character of Deadpool himself, there’s really nobody behind the wheel here.

Being a true Man or Woman of Steel has little to do with physical or political might and everything to do with mental, emotional and spiritual strength, and this strength, moreover, isn't about aggression, ruthlessness or machismo but the transformation of our weakness and vulnerability into virtue.

'Man of Steel' is not a bad movie, it’s just an incomplete one. It’s heavy on the super and light on the man.

British gaming company Ladbrokes recently conducted a survey about superheroes and published some stunning results: men like hot chicks and women like rich guys!
